2.3   Response Time and Demeanor

Instructors should respond to all student correspondence within 48 hours. When dealing with an irate, disrespectful, and/or unreasonable student, it is better to pause before replying. Typically, a thoughtful, kind response by the instructor can calm the student and resolve the issue in a superior manner. Online learning can be stressful for students who are trying to manage varied responsibilities. Our goal is to help the student achieve his or her academic goals. Southwestern Community College offers many services to assist students. Instructors should become familiar with these services and direct students to these services.
