5.3               Exam Proctoring Service

The Learning Assistance Center (LAC), on the Jackson and Macon campuses, offers full proctoring support for all online classes and is able to assist with occasional makeup exams for traditional classes. However, we cannot provide proctoring for homework assignments, nor can we accommodate proctoring that involves multiple timing requests, such as “Allow ten minutes for this section and ten minutes for that section.”
Attach the Exam Proctoring Information Sheet (Appendix J) to an exam or a stack of like exams so that all Consultants will have the same information. (We need to receive the information sheet and exams at least twenty-four hours before the start date.) Once the deadline on this sheet is past, it will be removed and returned, along with any uncompleted exams, to the instructor unless further instructions are received before the deadline.
Students will appreciate being reminded that they are required to show a photo I.D. before they can take an exam in the LAC. They must sign the proctoring sign-in sheet, acknowledging that they understand our testing policies (Appendix K). Any deviation from these rules by the student will be noted, for the instructor, on the sheet under “Comments.” No exceptions will be made unless the instructor specifies otherwise on the information sheet. Please also remind testing students that they need to bring their own supplies, such as calculators and writing utensils, as well as any materials allowed during an exam and any proctoring certification forms that you, the instructor, require. No electronics, including a cell phone, are allowed during testing, so students should leave them in their vehicles.
Finally, please remind students that it is best to avoid testing during the busiest hours (10 a.m. until 2 p.m. daily) because the noise level is much higher, and the LAC tends to run out of space. (Wednesdays and Thursdays are particularly busy days.) Therefore, it’s best for students to test 8-10 a.m. or 3-7 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Friday morning also is a great time to test. Students must finish testing before the 7 p.m. and noon (Friday) closing times. For more information, students should call Toni Knott (828- 339-4325).
